Lena Tsibizova’s photographs are suspended in an eery atmosphere – they
transport us to another dimension, as if we were underwater or floating in the air.
Tsibizova plays with multi-sensory images. She seeks to fully envelop the viewer in
her photographs, an effect she also achieves through her work as a sound artist.

Her work explores the issues of time, decomposition of things, mortality in her works. And through this ontological crack the artist comes to contemplation of nature. Her work is dominated by gray colors, cloudy weather. The element still remembers its formidable power, but it is already - obviously - preparing for a long sleep.
In her music Lena Tsibizova hovers somewhere between distant and not so distant memories or, rather, daydreams. Arrhythmic beats, glitchy effects and faint voices — like spores of the unconsciousness that break through shallow sleep and fill the gaps in memory — gradually come forward, taking over the melodic element.
She was a member of the Troyka Union and she worked on ethnographic projects (together with Olga Rodina and Anastasia Soboleva). She works regularly with magazines like Vice, Calvert Journal, Standart, Afisha Daily, The Moscow times, Snob, The Village, FurFur, Wonderzine, Port, Bazaar, Inrussia, Sygma, SNC, Russia Beyond The Headlines, Metropol, Theory and Practice, etc.
She studied Philology at the Russian State University for the Humanities, photography at the British Higher School of Design in the studio of Yuri Palmin and in the Institute of Contemporary Art.
