Jorge Fuembuena is fascinated by the notion of paradox. He has always been more interested in exploring how we build reality, rather than in reality itself. He uses photography as a tool to reflect on the nature of the social and individual being, helping us create a more complete vision of who we are.
He has participated in the prestigious international programme Plat(t)form 2013, curated by Fotomuseum Winterthur (Switzerland), and has presented his work in solo exhibitions at festivals such as the International Festival of Photography PHotoEspaña 2020, 2015 and 2013 (Spain), Photo Zurich International Art Festival 2020 (Switzerland), Grand Prix Łódź Fotofestiwal 2020 (Poland), and Athens Photo Festival 2017 (Greece), among others.
His work has received the AENA Foundation Prize, the prestigious International Biennial of Contemporary Photography Pilar Citoler Award, the Generations 2011, the International Festival of Visual Arts Emergent 2010, OCEMX Award 2011, ARCO 2010 Photo Reportage Award, Gold Medal at the PX3 Prix 2012, the Santa Isabel Portugal Photography Award for Young Author 2008, and the IPA 2012 Competition, among others.
